General Novaresi was born June 26, 1922 in Eureka CA. He graduated from Stockton High School and enlisted in the California National Guard in 1939. He was called to active service March 1941. He was assigned to field artillery, infantry, and tank destroyer units and advanced to the grade of master sergeant before entering the aviation cadet program in November 1942. He graduated in August 1943 at Mariana FL and received his pilot's wings and commission.

The General's first assignment was flying P-40s at Mariana Field, followed by reassignment to P-47 Thunderbolts with the 326 th Fighter Group at Seymour Johnson Army Airfield NC. He served with the unit as tactical and gunnery instructor and flight commander until November 1944. He was assigned to the 413 th Fighter Group in the Asiatic-Pacific in 1945 where he flew 125 combat missions and as a fighter pilot and flight commander.

Returning to the United States in November 1945, he was assigned as a fighter pilot at Luke Army Field AZ. A variety of postwar assignments followed including squadron commander of basic training squadrons, warehousing officer at Amarillo Army Airfield TX, and executive officer for a engineering construction unit at Scott Army Field IL.

He left active service in 1947. In 1948, he became the base salvage officer at Mather Air Force Base CA. In May 1949, he was reassigned as a pilot and assistant flight commander with the Bombardment Training Wing at Mather Air Force Base CA.

Returning to active duty in 1951, General Novaresi served as operations officer and then as commander of the 6600 th Air Police Squadron at Pepperrell Air Force Station, Newfoundland, flying C-54s and C-47s over the North Pole, Thule, Greenland and other Northern stations. Back in the U.S. in 1953, he was assigned to the 3600 th Flying Training Group (Fighter) at Luke Air Force Base AZ, where he became commander of students and foreign liaison officer for all foreign and USAF student pilots receiving fighter training.

While assigned to Luke, he qualified in the F-84 and the T-33 aircraft. After a stint in Korea in F-84s he returned and was then assigned as operations officer to the 314 th Fighter Bomber Squadron at Hamilton Air Force Base CA, flying F-8- fighters. He held this position until 1960 when he assumed command of the 314 th Troup Carrier Squadron, McClellan Air Force Base CA.

In 1963, Genreal Novaresi became deputy commander for operations with the 940 th Military Airlift Group at McClellan. In March 1967, he assumed command of the group. While assigned to the 940 th the General flew C-124s in and out of Viet Nam hauling supplies.

General Novaresi left the group to attend the Air War College in 1969 and graduated in May 1970. He was then assigned to Headquarters, Air Force Reserve, Robins Air Force Base GA, as assistant deputy chief of staff for operations. He left that assignment to take command of the 434 th Tactical Fighter Wing at Grissom Air Force Base IN in 1971. He commanded Fourth Air Force with headquarters at McClellan AFB CA from October 1975 to April 1981.

The General is a command pilot with more than 17,000 hours of flying in military and civilian aircraft. During his aviation career, he has flown various fighter and transport aircraft including the F-80, F-84, F-102, A-37, T-33, C-46, C-47, C-54, C-119, C-124, F-100, F-105, F-16 Fighting Falcon and the C-141 Starlifter Transport to name a few.

He was promoted to the rank of Major General April 5, 1977.

General Novaresi is married to the former Susie Andreotti of Stockton CA. They have three children, Cathy, Michael, and Cindy.

Civil Affiliations: Reserve Officers Association; Air Force Association; the American Legion; American Fighter Pilots Association; and a former member of the Air Reserve Forces Policy Committee. General Novaresi participated in the Office of the Secretary of Defense Total Force Study Group; was a former member of the Tactical Air Command Reserve Forces Policy Council and the U.S. Air Force Reserve Objective Review Plan Council.

He is currently the President of People's Advocate, responsible for fund raising and one of the spokesperson for the Corporation.
